British department store operator Debenhams has teamed up with a provider of language services and translation-related technologies Translations.com to support its recently launched online German store www.debenhams.de.
Translations.com's GlobalLink globalisation management system will provide localization services and technology support through the use of its GlobalLink suite of technology solutions.
Utilizing the suite's flagship product Debenhams was able to coordinate localization of descriptions and associated information for 58,000 products from English into German.
The German version of the online retail store launch is part of the retailer's aim to better serve their non-English speaking customers.
Debenhams product categories include womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, home and health & beauty and offers brands including Designers at Debenhams, international brands and concessions.
The chain currently operates 171 stores in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Denmark as well as 69 international franchisee stores in 26 countries.
